Our Coaches
John Fry
John is an opening batsman who played for Surrey 2nd XI and had trials with Somerset 2nd XI and head coach at our Purley CC camp. He also played for Dulwich, Mitcham, Sutton and now Purley. Currently second highest run scorer in the Surrey Championship with over 18,000 1st XI runs.
He represented the Club Cricket Conference and toured Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago. John had two seasons in South Africa playing for Capetown C.C and two seasons in Australia playing in New South Wales for Merewether C.C and Hamilton Wickham C.C.
John was awarded Senior Coaching Certificate from the National Cricket Association. He coached at the Alf Gover Cricket School for 6 months, then worked with Neil Stewart (Alec Stewart’s brother) at The Hurlingham Club during school holidays.
Currently coaching Purley Colts and the Chance to Shine schools coaching programme.
Ben Hudson
Ben is Head Coach at our Epsom CC camps and a UKCC level 2 qualified coach, coaching at Epsom Cricket Club since 2005.
Ben graduated with a sports science degree in 2001 having specialised in bio-mechanics and video analysis. He plays for Epsom Cricket Club having been in the 1st XI for over 10 years. Ben also played and captained his university side for 2 years.
Luke co-head coaches at our Epsom CC camps with his brother Ben. Luke is a level 2 UKCC qualified coach, who also plays for Epsom Cricket Club.
He has coached different age groups from the ages of 7-18 for the last 5 to 6 years.
Luke plays 1st XI Cricket at Epsom and was played for Surrey CCC under 16s and under 17s as well as captaining his university team.
Richard Singleton
Richard is a UKCC Level 2 coach working towards UKCC3 and head coach of our girls camp at NPL Teddington CC.
He coached the Surrey Under 13 Girls in 2009 which they reached the national final on and just missed out against Yorkshire when he was Surrey CCC community coach.
Richard is also Head Coach of the Outer London Surrey district from ages U-11 to U-14 and also is Lead Coach on Surrey's Development courses.
He plays for Chessington CC in the first team as a left arm Spinner and is Captain and Head Coach of the Development Squad. He loves playing cricket and coaching and specially has an interest in Girls cricket and working with children who have disabilities.
Phil Edwards
Phil is a UKCC2 qualified coach and plays for Epsom CC.
Despite being just 19 years old, Phil already has siginificant coaching experience having coached at the Epsom CC Twenty20 Camp in 2008 and for Epsom & Ewell Borough Council through Darren Talbot Cricket Coaching in 2009.
Phil also coaches the Epsom CC colts teams and is a very popular member of the coaching team.
Danny Secchi
Danny is an ECB I Level Coach having coached at Epsom Cricket Club for the last 10 years.
As well as coaching Danny has captained the Epsom Cricket Club 1st XI for the past 15 Years and has played for Surrey under 25s. Danny also coached at the Twenty20 Camps in 2008.
Sonu Sharma
Sunny, as he is known, is the overseas professional at Epsom CC and coached at the Twenty20 Camps in 2008. He is a UKCC 2 qualified coach.
Sunny played first-class cricket in India for Haryana over a period of 10 years ending in 2005.
Simon Thomlinson
Simon is a UKCC 'Head Coach' level coach, with experience in coaching at all ages and levels and is in charge of our NPL Teddington camp.
Simon has coached in schools for Darren Talbot Cricket Coaching and clubs either working with groups or one to one coaching. He plays club cricket for NPL Teddington in the league side and captains the Sunday development side.
He just completed a degree in sports science at Roehampton University and is looking to use his skills in schools as a Physical Education teacher.
